To take photos and to record audio a camera and an audio recorder app are needed.
The following apps are open source cameras and audio recorders:
* [Open Camera](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera) ([F-Droid](https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.sourceforge.opencamera/)) * [Open Camera](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera) ([F-Droid](https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.sourceforge.opencamera/))
* [Audio Recorder](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.axet.audiorecorder) ([F-Droid](https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.axet.audiorecorder/)) * [Audio Recorder](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.axet.audiorecorder) ([F-Droid](https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.axet.audiorecorder/))
To record voice notes, etc, the audio recorder needs to support
[MediaStore.Audio.Media.RECORD_SOUND_ACTION](https://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/MediaStore.Audio.Media#RECORD_SOUND_ACTION).
Oddly, most audio recorders seem not to support this standard Android action.
